The mystery of the disappearance of an American who put the police in a deadlock for more than 20 years ago, was solved thanks to Google Maps

Thanks to Google Maps were found the remains of a man who’s been missing for more than 20 years. The man’s name was William Molt and he lived in Florida.

The mystery of that vanished 40-year-old Malt 8 November 1997, has left police stumped, but it was solved after someone spotted a submerged car in a pond on Google Maps and called the police which was engaged in investigation of this case.

As reported by Newsweek, his remains were found in a submerged car in a pond in Wellington near palm beach after the Manager of The Grand Isles, working in residential areas, I noticed a car on Google Earth.

The County Sheriff’s office palm beach said that the Malt has been missing since November 1997, but his disappearance remained unclear and there were no leads. It is also noted that in 1997, the area where he was found was a construction site.

After police officers called at the place indicated on Google Earth, they found that the car has probably been there for a long time, judging by the state she was in. When the car pulled out of the water, it found the skeleton of a man. He was transferred to the medical examiner to establish the identity of the deceased.

As told in The Charley Project is an online database which collects information on unsolved cases in the United States – to see the car on Google Earth it was possible within 10 years. They wrote: «Amazingly, the car was perfectly visible on satellite image of Google Earth since 2007, but apparently nobody noticed it until 2019, when the real estate appraiser saw her looking at a photo.»

National Missing and Unidentified Persons System added that on the evening of November 7, Molt left a nightclub. He called his girlfriend at about 21:30 to warn that he would soon be home, but since then nothing about him was heard.
