Man was burned alive in the Tesla, when «futuristic» door handles were faulty

«Futuristic» door handles on the car Tesla Model S caused the death of a man who failed to save from the car after the accident in February in Florida.

This is stated in a lawsuit filed in Broward County court.

Omar Avan, 48-year-old anesthesiologist, is dead after lost control and crashed her Tesla Model S into a tree in South Florida.

According to the lawsuit, in place immediately left the police and rescuers, but «futuristic» door knobs models worked with failures, and discover the car was impossible. A few minutes later lit up lithium-ion car battery, and soon the car was completely engulfed in flames to pull out the driver failed.

«The driver was alive when the car crashed into a tree. The man had internal injuries or fractures. He died from the smoke that is inhaled when trapped in the «Tesla», — said in a lawsuit. — That’s because the model S is available no door handles, no way to open the door, and is unreasonably dangerous risk of fire. These shortcomings of the model S made it a death trap».

After firefighters managed to extinguish the flames, «Tesla» AWANA was towed to the site by the fire station, where…. again, it caught fire and burned down to the ground.

The lawsuit States that Tesla was aware of the potential Flammability of the model S in 2013, but failed to address the shortcomings.

In February, after the death of Omar Awan, a representative of the company told the Sun-Sentinel:

«We are deeply saddened by this accident. We appealed to the local authorities asking for cooperation. Collisions at high speed can cause a fire in any type of vehicles, not just cars. Electric cars Tesla is designed to be the safest cars in the world and the drivers of Tesla to date has driven over 10 billion miles.»
