Several people were injured Sunday in a house in Englewood on the South side of Chicago. Media reported that there were 13 victims, some of whom are children.
Details about the extent of the injuries was not immediately available, but, as it became known, more than 100 police officers arrived at the scene.
«I was awakened by a sound similar to 4, 5 or 6 shots, and it was quite loud, so I think he is pretty close,’ said neighbor Terrence Daniel. — I didn’t see no excitement when I looked out the window, but shortly afterwards I heard the sound, people screamed and ran away from the party on the street.»
Tom Ahern, Deputy Director of the city police Department news Affairs and communications, tweeted that officers were prepared to provide additional information Sunday morning «about the numerous victims of the shooting».
According to the police, at the moment no further information is available. The shooting occurred on 57th and May Streets.
Detectives of the southern district is currently investigating.
Starting from 17:00 Friday, December 20 in Chicago had 34 shots, 4 of which were fatal.
