In new York for the week were five aggressive anti-Semitic attacks

Fifth night of Hanukkah marked the fifth anti-Semitic attack in new York this week, and it’s worrying signs of growing anti-Semitism, say the investigators.

The most recent incident occurred on Thursday, December 26, in Brooklyn, where police arrested a woman who attacked another woman, shouted at her: «f—ing Jew!».

On Monday, the 28-year-old Jorge Steven attacked 65-year-old man in a yarmulke in Manhattan, screaming, «F— you, Jew!». According to representatives of the NYPD, the victim received cuts on his face and arm.

Later that same day, the police reported another incident – now in Brooklyn, where a group of teenagers hit a 6-year-old in a yarmulke in the lobby of a residential building.

On Tuesday a group of teenagers in Crown Heights threw a 25-year-old boy-a Jew a plastic Cup, and some time later one of the Teens hit the victim on the head while another filmed the incident on video.

The anti-defamation League (ADL American Jewish human rights non-governmental socio-political organization opposing anti-Semitism and other forms of intolerance against Jews), offered a reward of $10 thousand for information about the incident.

«We are overwhelmed by the frequency and aggressiveness of these attacks, said the regional Director of the ADL in new York and new Jersey Evan Bernstein. — They are particularly disgusting because of what happened in a time when people need to come together for the holidays. It is time for officials and community leaders spoke, set an example and demanded significant changes to protect the Jewish population.»

The mayor of new York bill de Blasion Wednesday wrote on Twitter:

«It is not enough to condemn anti-Semitism — we must resist him. The crimes committed against our Jewish community, are an attack on ALL new Yorkers. All the perpetrators brought to justice.»

It’s not enough to condemn anti-Semitism — we have to confront it.

The despicable crimes committed against our Jewish community over the last 24 hours are an attack on ALL New Yorkers.

The NYPD is actively investigating all of them and will bring the perpetrators to justice.

The Governor of the state of new York Andrew Cuomo backed the mayor:

«These cowardly acts of anti-Semitism is contrary to our values, and even more disgusting that this happened during the holidays. We will oppose bigotry wherever it raised its ugly head,» said Cuomo.
