In Louisiana plane crash: 5 dead, including a reporter Carly McCord and 15-year-old boy

In the crash, which occurred on Saturday December 28 in Louisiana, crashed the twin-engine plane with six people on Board. Killed at least 5 people who flew in the Peach bowl. Among the victims were the daughter of the coach of the LSU Tigers, sports reporter Louisiana Carly McCord.

The Federal aviation administration said that it was a twin-engine aircraft Piper-Cheyenne, registered in Cheyenne Partners LLC, based in Lafayette. It can accommodate eight people and was built in 1980, according to reports from the FAA.

Press Secretary of the Federal office of civil aviation Tony Molinaro said a twin-engine Piper Cheyenne crashed in Lafayette, about 1.6 km from the regional airport where the flight began.

Stephen Ensminger Jr., the son of the coach of the football team of Louisiana state University, confirmed that his wife, Carly McCord, was on Board the plane died when it crashed. He said the plane was heading to a playoff game, «Peach bowl» in Atlanta between LSU and Oklahoma.

The pilot and four passengers died. Robert Benoit, fire chief at Lafayette, where the accident occurred, reported that one surviving passenger was taken to hospital in critical condition. This passenger was identified as Steven Berzac, 37 years.

Three people, including two postal worker US who were on the ground during the accident, were injured, said the representative of fire protection Lafayette Alton Trahan.

McCord was a sports reporter for TV station WDSU-TV in New Orleans and daughter of the coordinator of the occurrence of SML Steve Ensminger.

22-year-old Marty Brady said that in his apartment, which is located 200 metres from the crash site, the lights went out, when he was preparing to make coffee. He ran out and saw black smoke and flames in the Parking lot of the post office and connected to the power lines. Brady said that the plane cut the power line in his apartment complex.

«If he flew a little lower, everything would have ended much worse,» he said.

The fire Department reported that one car on the ground was completely covered with flames from the crash, which was quickly extinguished.

Four people were taken to hospital: one plane, one victim on the ground, and two employees of the post office, which was taken for evaluation, said the press-Secretary of the fire Department of Lafayette Alton Trahan.
