Police rescued schoolchildren from the SUV driving right at them

A police officer from Connecticut Carlos do Carmo Jr. saved a group of students from riding on them SUV.

Karmo made a heroic deed, when she was on the service road of high school in Harding. Video of the incident shared by the police Department of Bridgeport is on Facebook.

The footage shows how at around 14:30, a black SUV moves along Boston Avenue, passing by do Carmo. According to police, inside the car were two passengers in the front seat and the backseat, but driving was not one. The car was parked on a hill, but somehow began to move.

«I saw the car drives past me without a driver and passenger in the front and someone in the backseat just in a panic.» — says do Carmo.

Seeing the car, the officer reacted instantly and immediately chased the car. According to karmo, he saw the car crosses the curb and approaching the group of students. He caught up with the SUV and grabbed a door handle, keeping her «struggling». In the end, do Carmo managed to stop the car, escaped with minor scratches.

«I knew that if I don’t stop this car, then at least four or five children suffer from it.» — says the officer. «I don’t think I’ve done something special. I work in a wonderful Department with great officers and any of them would have stopped this car.»

Karmo, who has worked in the Department for four years, was recognized by the mayor and city Council for the quick response and action. Police chief Armando Perez said she was concerned about his staff, but very proud of it.

«He’s not only a hero, but a wonderful father and husband. He is an example for all police officers in this Department.» said Perez.
