Chicago «celebrated» July 4: death by rocket launchers and severed fingers

One resident of Chicago killed, two others lost fingers and about 20 people were injured from fireworks during the celebration of July 4th.

As described in the fire Department of the city, 42-year-old David Griffin was hit by a rocket launcher fireworks in the 2500 block on West 54th Street directly in front of his son. The man was immediately taken to Holy Cross hospital, but to save him failed.

Another two Chicago residents lost fingers — one on the morning of Wednesday, the other on Tuesday evening, July 4. Both were taken to hospital in a serious condition.
According to the fire Department, during the festival five other people received burns, and two men got an eye injury, and two more injuries to the hands. Fortunately, all these injuries were not so serious, hospitalization of victims is not needed.

«This list is not final, since many of the victims who called the ambulance, could not say that he had sustained injuries from fireworks,» — said the representative of fire service Larry Langford.
