One-year-old boy received a gunshot wound to the head, when the parents were fighting over weapons

A child who is barely a year old, received a severe gunshot wound to the head. It happened at a time when his mom and dad were fighting over weapons.

The incident occurred Monday around 7:30 PM. 26-year-old Travis McCoy and a 28-year-old Adrian Smith was fighting in his home in North Eastwood Shores (Chicago, Illinois), according to ABC. Authorities say McCoy and Smith allegedly had a fight over weapons.

In the midst of a fight there is a random shot in which the bullet ricocheted off the wall hit the head of their infant son. The bullet penetrated the skull of the boy and not hurt the brain, but the child’s condition is estimated by doctors as heavy.

Travis McCoy, the boy’s father, ran with the wounded child to the hospital Weiss, where the injured were given first aid. Then the child was transferred to children’s hospital Lurie.

McCoy was arrested Monday after he brought the child to the hospital for treatment. On first examination, McCoy said that he was allegedly shot by some unidentified people on the street, and that shooting his son was wounded.

This version was not confirmed and was found to be false. Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said investigators failed to find the crime scene, which initially said the boy’s father.

Later investigators determined that in the place that McCoy stated the police did not shoot and the boy was shot in the apartment of his parents, which is located in an apartment building near the hospital Vice.

McCoy and Smith were arrested. They both are accused of creating a threat to the child’s life situation. The injured boy’s father was additionally prosecuted for perjury and the introduction of misleading the investigation. Mother, Adrian Smith, was charged with destruction of evidence and obstruction of the work of law enforcement agencies.

The parents of the wounded kid awaiting trial. The child remains in children’s hospital Lurie.
