In California 40 thousand a swarm of African bees attacked a police and fire: 5 people hospitalized

On Thursday afternoon in Pasadena, California, a group of firemen and police officers who responded to a call associated with one bee sting, was attacked by a swarm of nearly 40 thousand African bees. Three first rescuer was rushed to the hospital.

«I work in the fire brigade for 18 years and been involved in several incidents with bees, — said the employee of the Department of public information of the fire protection Pasadena Lisa Derderian. — But never with so much.»

As reported by SNN, all hospitalized with bee stings 5 victims. Authorities added that stung seven people, but two of them refused hospitalization.

Most of all went to the fireman who first arrived on the scene. The bees stung him 17 times.

«The bees were very aggressive, — said Derderian. — Someone could have an allergic reaction, and she would have had serious consequences, even death».

Firefighters and professional beekeeper climbed a ladder to remove the beehive that was on kyse four-story Howard Johnson Inn on Colorado Boulevard. Then they sprayed the bees with CO2 and foam fire extinguishers.

The street was closed for 2 hours while firefighters worked on the destruction of the hive.

According to Derderian, some bees were killed, while others fled the area after sunset.

In the end, the beekeeper was able to safely remove the hive that the bees could not return home.
