A student from Singapore of Chinese origin, received serious facial injuries after it was attacked on xenophobic associated with the fear of the coronavirus.

23-year-old Jonathan IOC napisal about the incident on Facebook on Monday. He told that on February 24 on Oxofrd Street in Central London, he was attacked by a group of people. One of the attackers, before you can break a guy’s nose, shouted: «Your coronavirus useless in my country!».

In the attack, Jonathan suffered multiple bone fractures of the face. He may need plastic surgery, reports CNN.

The attackers fled before the police arrived, at the moment there is an investigation of the incident and conducted an active search for suspects.

Organisation Stop Hate UK, which fights against crimes motivated by racism, expresses his concerns about the deteriorating situation and urged to draw public attention to the problem.

«Stop Hate UK has recently received a considerable number of calls from people who faced racism <…> due to the fact that they, as representatives of the Asian Diaspora, in the opinion of the offenders, can be carriers of the coronavirus .» — wrote the organization in a statement.
