Pastor bluesman, who criticized the «mass hysteria» because of the coronavirus, has died from Covid-19

The pastor from Virginia who criticised the «mass hysteria» surrounding the pandemic coronavirus, has died from Covid-19.

66-year-old Landon Spradlin from Gretna, a small town midway between Lynchburg and Danville felt bad in New Orleans, where he was going to preach to the crowd gathered for the celebration of Mardi Gras, according to the BBC, and Patch.

Mardi Gras in French means fat Tuesday, the English counterpart «skoromnogo Tuesday» (eng. Shrove Tuesday). This year the holiday was celebrated on 25 February, before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the Catholic lent, which precedes Easter.

A month later Spradlin, who was not only pastor, but also a professional musician, inducted into the Hall of fame of the Blues in 2016, has died from complications of coronavirus infection.

«His mission was to go to pubs, clubs and bars, playing Blues, to communicate with musicians and just tell them that Jesus loves them, ‘said Spradlin daughter, 28-year-old Jesse Spradlin. — On the eve of Mardi Gras in New Orleans is reminiscent of times square in new York. It’s a sea of people who just drink and have fun. Dad was in his element.»

Spradlin felt ill while in New Orleans, but first got a negative result on tetsirovaniya COVID-19.

On March 13, the pastor published a post (which has since been removed) on his page in Facebook where he compared the mortality rate from coronavirus, the death rate from swine flu, also called the public reaction to the pandemic, «mass hysteria». Spradlin suggested that the media used the flash to hurt the President Trump.

«It will come and go», — he wrote in the comments.

26-year-old Naomi, the second daughter Spradlin, said they never discussed the virus in the family circle. Their music the band was playing in Jackson square when the coronavirus has already begun to spread in the United States.

32-year-old Isaac, the son of a pastor, told me that his father didn’t think the coronavirus is a fraud, but believed that its danger is greatly exaggerated.

In mid-March on my way home to Virginia health Spradlin Landon began to deteriorate rapidly.

The pastor was taken to hospital in North Carolina where doctors discovered that he had developed pneumonia in both lungs. This time he has tested positive for COVID-19.

He died after eight days in intensive care.

«We just never thought our father will die because of it, said Jesse Spradlin. — But he was not one of those people that can live in fear and to allow him to deprive them of the joy of life.»

The opinion of religious leaders does not always coincide with the recommendations of the authorities. For example, previously a pastor from Florida was arrested after he held Sunday services in Tampa.
