The deadliest shooting in canadian history: the shooter killed 16 people

Sunday was made public the name of the man who shot 16 people in Nova Scotia (Canada).

According to preliminary information, the shooter is 51-year-old manufacturer of dental prostheses Gabrielle Wortman.

As reported by SHS, Wortman was shot in several cities, dressed as an officer of the Royal canadian mounted police (Royal Canadian Mounted Police — RCMP), being behind the wheel of a car, also reminiscent of the RCMP.

«The fact that this man had a uniform and a police car, of course, suggests that this is not a random act,» said the head of the RCMP Chris Lieser.

Wortman, who worked as a dentist, was found by police at a gas station. He was shot while trying to conquer in Enfield (Nova Scotia).

Initially, the authorities said 10 victims, but added that number is likely to grow. On Sunday it became known about the 16 victims that made the tragedy, the deadliest mass shooting on canadian soil.

Among the victims — officer RCMP Heidi Stevenson, the mother of two children and a 23-year veteran of the armed forces. Another officer was wounded.

It is known that the attack began at about 22.30 PM on Saturday when police received the first call about «man with a firearm» in a tiny town Porcupine. The motive for mass murder is not installed or is not disclosed.

«We have come together to support each other. Together we will mourn the dead and help their families through this difficult time,» said the Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau.
