78-year-old woman who survived after being infected with coronavirus, was found dead in her house in Queens (NY) on Friday, April 24, with stab wounds. The victim’s son is charged with murder.
A passerby heard an argument in the house on 41st Ave. near 67th St. in Woodside around 7:50 a.m. and called 911.
Police found Camelita Cabansag dead at the scene with stab wounds on her body.
48-year-old David Galicia were summoned for questioning. Later, the police accused him of murder.
According to neighbors, the husband Cabansag died a few years ago and her son lived in the same building.
51-year-old building Manager Juan Velasquez said that recordings from the security cameras, which it was evident that at the time of the incident in the lobby of the building there were two people. They broke the glass at the main entrance.
One neighbor said he saw two men ran from the building.
«They went crazy, ran around like a madman. I had to call the police,» said a neighbor.
ACCORDING to Velasquez, Cabansag recently hospitalized with COVID-19, but she returned home and was on the mend.
«She was quarantined. This is madness,» he said.
Another neighbor called the victim «a very nice lady», which still worked, despite the age.
«Very friendly, — said the neighbor. — She told me stories about family members to help in the Philippines. I think that’s why she’s still working».
