Husband who was looking for his family after the Oregon fires did not recognize his wife injured in the fire

A man who was frantically looking for his wife and child after the forest fires in Oregon came face to face with a stranger who suffered in the fire — and could not recognize her as his wife.

Chris Tofte and Angela Mosso thought they still had time and the fire would take a long time to reach the family's Lyon home. While Angela was collecting things, Chris drove to a friend to borrow his trailer — and in the morning he learned that fires were burning throughout the city.

Tofte immediately drove back, trying to find his wife and 13-year-old son Wyatt. As Chris told the Statesman Journal, at some point he noticed a woman in her underwear on the road: the stranger's bare feet were badly burned, her hair and face turned black.

Hoping that she knew something, Tofte told the woman that he was looking for a wife and son. She answered: «I am your wife.»

As it turned out, Angela Mosso walked nearly three miles on the hot asphalt after the flames engulfed their Lyon home. She and Wyatt and her mother, 73-year-old Peggy Mosso, managed to escape — but, alas, only Angela survived. Wyatt was allegedly killed while trying to rescue a grandmother who had a broken leg.

Mosso is currently receiving treatment at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland with 2nd and 3rd degree burns. A campaign created for her and Chris on GoFundMe has raised $ 88,793 so far.
