6-year-old boy helped his injured father call 911 after a robbery in which his mother died

A couple from Indianapolis were the victims of an armed robbery. As a result, the husband was seriously injured, the wife died, and the police are still looking for two suspects in the attack.

Family friend Andrew Utz says that on the night of the attack, 40-year-old Wilma Hochstetler traveled with her 6-year-old son to Indianapolis to bring her husband Jonathan Hochstetler new trailer tires and then stayed behind to help fix broken headlights.

“Two people approached them. Wilma saw them and shouted to Jonathan, but it was too late, ”Yutz said.

The robbers, threatening with a pistol, took Vilma's phone, money and wallets of the couple, and then shot at the spouses and fled. Their 6-year-old son was hiding in a truck at the time.

After the suspects fled, Jonathan Hochstetler, severely wounded in the neck, told the boy to pick up the phone. The child grabbed him and gave him to his father so that he could call 911.

But it was too late for Wilma Hochstetler: she died on the spot.

“I think, as a 6-year-old boy, it’s difficult to understand what really happened. He does not realize that his mother is gone forever, ”says Yutzi.

The boy's father was seriously injured and underwent surgery on his back, but fortunately he was not paralyzed, WISH-TV reports. As a result of the attack, the bones of his jaw and face were broken.

Jonathan is now recovering at the hospital, but friends say that his broken heart cannot be healed.

The couple left a son and three daughters. The Hochstetlers own a roofing company in Bloomfield, Star reports. They were very religious and took an active part in missionary work.
