A father from Las Vegas (Nevada) preferred money to the welfare of his one-year-old daughter — and did not allow the dying baby to be saved from a hot car.
Police said Sydney Deal was more worried about the cost of a broken car window than about her daughter trapped there on a hot day.
Deal, who allegedly forgot his car keys inside, refused to help his brother and offer the police to break the window in his new car, because he was afraid that he would not be able to afford compensation for damage, writes the Las Vegas Sun.
What's more, Deal tried to downplay the severity of the situation by stating that his daughter Saya was fine despite the high temperature of 98F. When Dill's partner called the insurance company, who offered to send a tow truck, he demanded to hang up — because, according to the detention protocol, he considered the cost of towing too high.
By the time the police, in spite of the man's displeasure, broke the window and pulled the baby out, she was already dead. According to the officers, by that time Saya was in the car «in a very hot environment» for about an hour.
Clark was arrested on charges of child abuse, resulting in serious injury or death. He is currently in custody on $ 20,000 bail.
