Queens mother threw her baby out of the window immediately after giving birth

The newborn baby, found on Sunday near a home in Queens, was allegedly thrown out of a bathroom window by his mother, who had just given birth, police sources said.

The boy, who also suffered from hypothermia at the time of hospitalization, is now in critical but stable condition, police said.

The toddler was found outside a house on 126th Street in South Ozone Park around 10:15 a.m. Sunday and taken to Cohen's Children's Medical Center. Soon, detectives established that the 23-year-old mother had just given birth in the bathtub, and then threw the baby out of the window.

The woman, who underwent a psychological examination in the hospital, is facing charges on 7 counts, including attempted murder and assault.

The mother's neighbor said that she knew her, but «did not notice that she was pregnant.» She also added that she did not know anything about a possible father.
