An eight-year-old girl was forced to jump on a trampoline for hours as punishment. She died of dehydration

The little girl died after being forced to jump on a trampoline for hours as a cruel punishment.

On Monday, 44-year-old Daniel Schwartz and 34-year-old Ashley Schwartz from Odessa, Texas were arrested on charges of killing 8-year-old Jaylene on August 29, 2020. According to the girl's relatives, the Schwartzians were her guardians, but they were not biological parents.

According to the police, the girl was forced to jump as punishment for an unknown offense, not allowing her to take breaks or drink water — although the trampoline temperature was 45 ° C and the air temperature reached 37 ° C that day.

An autopsy released Thursday confirmed that Jaylene had died of dehydration.

“The investigation showed that she was not allowed to have breakfast and was forced to jump on a trampoline without stopping for a long period of time,” the police said in a statement.

The authorities view her death as murder. The Schwartzians are currently in custody.
