Aegean earthquake kills 14 people in Turkey and Greece

At least 14 people died on Friday in Turkey and Greece after a magnitude 7 earthquake struck the eastern Aegean Sea. According to the US Geological Survey, emergency teams continue to work to find victims and survivors. Authorities have reported more than 100 tremors.

The earthquake's worst impact was in western Turkey, where, according to officials, 12 people died and more than 400 were injured. In Izmir, at least 17 buildings were damaged.

A 7.0 earthquake hit Greece and Turkey, collapsing buildings in Turkish city Izmir with people trapped inside.

The 2 countries have pledged to assist each other, despite tensions:

A strong earthquake struck north of Neon Karlovasion, a small town on the Greek island of Samos. At least 8 people were injured there, according to Greek state broadcaster ERT. Two high school students, a boy and a girl, were killed in the city of Samos after a wall fell on them.
