The suspect was detained law enforcement agencies hours after police said he parked a pickup truck near the Capitol and claimed he had a bomb — which led to the evacuation of several nearby buildings.
Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger confirmed to press conference on Thursday afternoon that a man was taken into custody.
Earlier Thursday, police evacuated the Cannon House office building, the Jefferson Library of Congress building and other nearby buildings.
A video posted online shows a man, who was identified by police as 49-year-old Floyd Roseberry, leaves a truck and crawls on the ground after negotiating with law enforcement. An explosive device was later found in his pickup truck, CNN reports.

Earlier, Manger said officials were in talks with the man after the police department evacuated to investigate a bomb threat.
When asked if the man's motive is known, Manger said: “We know that Mr. Roseberry has had some family losses. As far as I know, his mother passed away recently. We also spoke with his family members and we know that he had other problems. ”
