Utah bride dies in car accident on day she marries high school sweetheart

The 26-year-old Utah woman died in a crash Friday night when another car crashed into her car, just hours after she married her high school sweetheart, according to her family.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the accident occurred after 1:00 am on I-15 near Salt Lake City. A Toyota pickup truck driving south on the north lane crashed into the victim's Toyota Corolla.

A 26-year-old Corolla driver was fatally injured, UHP said. In addition, a 20-year-old passenger was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The family identified the female driver who died in the accident as Angelica Gabrielle Dhondup. They said that Dhondup had just married her high school sweetheart and was returning home from her wedding reception when the tragedy happened.

Dhondup had two sons and a daughter who was one week away from being adopted, the family added on the page GoFundMe.

According to UHP, after the accident, a bystander stopped to help the driver and passenger of a Toyota pickup truck. However, the driver stole a Good Samaritan's pickup truck and was quickly apprehended. The passenger also tried to escape, but later returned to the scene.

The identity of the driver of the pickup truck was not disclosed.
