What caused the tragedy?

The eyewitnesses of the incident began to scream in horror and fright. Panic broke out among the people.

"My God! He just fell! My God!" one woman screamed.

"Are you sure you buckled him up?" — another one attacked the park employee.

The victim was immediately taken to the hospital, but they could not save him. Orange County Police have launched an investigation. She recently posted about 200 pages about the inner workings of the Orlando Free-Fall, which opened in December 2021 and is the tallest freestanding tower in the country.

The report says 14-year-old Tyre Sampson should not have been allowed to ride at all due to his overweight. With a height of 131 meters and a capacity of 30 people, the structure is designed for a maximum weight of 130 kg, while a teenager weighed 145. He fell under the restrictions for large people. The instructions say:

"Be careful to make sure large guests fit in the seats and the bracket fits correctly. If this is not the case, do not allow this person to board."

According to a private ride safety inspector, it does not matter how strong or athletic the person is. Due to its weight, it is subject to overload and is not able to resist during the free fall of the attraction at a speed of 120 km/h.

"I've seen photos that show he's not wearing a seatbelt. This can be classified as one redundant security system," — he said.

For the refusal of seat belts at the Orlando Free-Fall, Hannes Lackner, general manager of Funtime Thrill Rides, once spoke. The accident report confirmed that the seat was locked in place and the mechanisms did not fail. So Sampson simply did not fit into the contours of the seat and the bracket did not fit him.

"The passenger fell off the ride when the magnets went off. The harnesses were still locked when stopped."

The Orlando Free-Fall and Orlando Sling Shot rides are currently on hold until they are deemed safe by investigators. There are at least 5 such free fall rides in the world that use the Funtime Thrill Rides model. One of Tyre's witnesses was 20-year-old Montrey Williams from Orlando:

"It's really hard to replay this horrific incident over and over in your head. My first reaction was like a dream. I thought it was all unreal until I went up to him."

At the time of the tragedy, Montri and his girlfriend were standing downstairs near the attraction and watching the park visitors sit down for a ride. According to him, none of the employees went around and did not check whether everything was working reliably.
