An armed guy eliminated the shooter who opened fire in the shopping center

Last night, July 17, at The American city of Greenwood, Indiana, an unknown person opened fire on visitors to the Greenwood Park Mall shopping center. A man entered the food court with a rifle and started shooting, as a result of which three people were killed and two more were injured. He himself was killed by a 22-year-old who legally carried a firearm.

According to Greenwood Police Department Chief Jim Eason, a man with a rifle and several magazines of ammunition entered the food court of the mall, after which he began to shoot . The identity of the attacker, as well as his motives, remain unknown. Among the victims was a 12-year-old girl who received a light wound in the back. Another person is in stable condition.

Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers said the police are monitoring the situation and the threat has been eliminated. He appealed to local residents with a request to bypass the crime scene. A real hero in the police called a citizen who legally carried a weapon in that food court and was able to stop the shooter almost immediately, as he opened fire on people.

During a press conference, the head of the police department said that calls about shooting began to arrive at the local emergency center around 6 pm. In the same shopping center, law enforcement officers found a suspicious backpack in one of the restrooms. Sappers went to the place, but after examining the find, they did not find any dangerous objects inside.

Earlier, on July 4, on US Independence Day, shooting sounded in the state of Illinois. An unidentified person opened fire during a festive parade, as a result of which 6 people were killed and several dozen more were injured.
