The gunman barricaded himself in a Hollywood Motel

Thursday in Hollywood. In one of the local motels barricaded armed attacker, which police evacuated several residents and shut off for transport a stretch of Hollywood Boulevard.

Around 11 a.m. law enforcement received a call about an armed assault at the Motel 6, located in the 1700 block of Whitley Avenue. Arriving at the scene, security officers tried to make contact with the aggressor, and then the shooting started.

At one stage of the confrontation, the suspect barricaded himself in his room and refused to surrender. Law enforcement officers were forced to call in reinforcements and to evacuate the entire second floor of the hotel.

Come to the aid of SWAT officers tried to bring the attacker on contact, but he did not respond. Around 15:00 they decided to use optical equipment to see what is happening in the room — it turned out that the suspect is dead.

As the cause of death of the man called the paramedics gunshot wound. At this stage it is not known whether he was killed during a shootout with police or committed suicide.

About four o’clock in the lively district near Hollywood walk of fame, the Egyptian theatre and shopping complex Hollywood & Highland has been blocked. Just after 15:30, the streets began to open.
