In Virginia declared a state of emergency

The Governor of Virginia, Terry McAuliffe today declared a state of emergency due to the collision of white nationalists with counter — protesters in a Park in Charlottesville. The cause of the conflict is the decision of the city authorities to remove the statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee from the municipal Park.

Raising shields and chanting racist slogans, thousands of ultra-nationalists went in Emancipation Park — a former Lee Park in downtown Charlottesville. There were counter — protesters. It is reported that the warring parties were thrown at each other with plastic bottles and sprayed chemicals. Some demonstrators clashed hand to hand. At least one man was seen with blood on his face.

Police in riot gear set up barricades and ordered the demonstrators to disperse. While there were no reports of arrests.

Day in the Park clash was a sequel to night of the procession nationalists in the University of Virginia, where participants chanted anti-Semitism and Nazi slogans. Night the protesters also staged a brawl with their ideological opponents.
Governor Terry McAuliffe called the parade «disgusting.»
