In Charleston, an armed man took hostage dozens of people have killed

In the city of Charleston in South Carolina, a lone gunman took hostages by a popular tourist restaurant, Virginia’s on King. Unknown, dressed as the caterer, broke into the restaurant from the kitchen around 12.15 local time, with a gun in his hand. He declared himself «the new boss in town.» The man locked the front door and kept people inside for several hours.

According to eyewitnesses, the assailant looked, «as an ordinary grandpa, but he was crazy.» One pair managed to escape from the institution through the «back door». The restaurant staff, the offender also was let go.

One of the restaurant staff – the man, the chef, was wounded attackers. He was able to pick up and deliver in the hospital in critical condition. The doctors were unable to save his life. In the hospital, he was diagnosed with the death of the victim. His name was not disclosed.

Later it became known that the offender worked as a dishwasher in this place and, apparently, was fired. With the dead he had a conflictual relationship. He returned to the restaurant to seek revenge.

Arrived at the scene, riot police and a SWAT team stormed the institution after several attempts to persuade the attacker to release the hostages voluntarily. The gunman was taken down by a shot of a police officer. At the moment he is in critical condition. The hostages are safely released, but their exact number is still not disclosed, but according to some reports there were more than 30.
