De Blasio signed the law on the rights of workers fast-food

Mayor bill de Blasio on Tuesday signed a law prohibiting the indiscriminate shifts in shifts for workers of fast foods. Under the new legislation, called the mayor a «fair», employers are obliged to warn in advance of the employee’s shift at work and need to go to the workplace at an unplanned time. If the schedule change occurred without notice to the employee, the latter is entitled to bonus.

Also repealed «the ban on phone calls» for retail workers.

The law will affect the interests of more than 65 000 employees the fast-food chain in new York.

Supporters of the new legislation stated that the rules will allow low-wage workers to obtain some stability and predictability in the workplace. At the present day the schedule is changed without taking into account their interests, in order to increase the profitability of the company.

In turn, opponents of the law claim that its enactment will only hurt workers, since employers will be forced to change the approach to personnel policy, to reduce the number of working hours per employee and to automate processes.
