Trump canceled the trade restrictions for affected by hurricane Puerto Rico

On Thursday, the President of the United States Donald trump took the decision to lift the trade restrictions stipulated by the Jones act, affected by hurricane Maria Puerto Rico. The decision was taken after a request from the Governor of Puerto Rico Ricardo Rossello.

As previously reported, the Jones act (passed after the First world war in 1920) requires that all cargo transported between ports of the United States, transported only American vessels owned by American owners, crew members whom are Americans.

By the decision of the President on Twitter reported the press Secretary of the White house Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

«At the request of Ricardo Rossello the President has authorized the waiver of Jones act for Puerto Rico. The decision enters into force immediately,» she wrote.
