Police: in new York fell again to the level of crime

On Tuesday, October 3, the police Department of new York reported that in September the level of serious crimes, subject to the statistical system was the lowest during the operation of the Compstat system.

In the first month of autumn in new York recorded a record low number of serious crimes. This continues the overall downward trend in crime rate throughout the year.

The report says that in September were 15 murders less (-42,9%) than in the same period of the previous year. Also decreased the number of cases of fire (30 or less -27,8%). In General, the number of violent crimes decreased by 5.3% (458 crimes) compared with last year. These cuts helped reduce the total number of crimes across the city, compared with the year 2016 (-4518 cases or -5,9%).

While the number of robberies on the streets (-14.7%.), robbery burglary (-7.6%.), attacks (-5.0%.), theft (-0.8%) and car thefts (-8.8%.) in the city decreases, the number of rapes in September of this year rose 3.5 percent over the same period last year.

Police Commissioner James P O’neill stated that the NYPD continues to work hard to reduce crime across new York.

O’neill also stressed that it is important to not only the reduction but also the way to achieve these overall positive results. Build trust and understanding between police and representatives of the companies allows to make the city safer for residents of each district to help police in their difficult work.

Mayor bill de Blasio called new York «the safest city in America» and congratulated all the employees of the police Department, and the current September was the safest month in the modern era.

«This is just the beginning. As we make more effort, the drop in the level of crime in the city will become more and more visible.»
