Eighteen years after lawmakers agreed that students of California must demonstrate their knowledge in the final examination to receive a diploma, Governor Jerry brown signed a law to permanently waive this requirement.

Three years ago, brown and the legislature decided to suspend the law, which required students to pass graduation exams at the end of high school. Then about 32 thousand students who «failed» the test, since 2004, were able to receive diplomas if they completed the other course work.

The new law has faced criticism from Republicans who believe that the exam should be revised, not removed from mandatory programs. Despite this, the Governor signed the document, which exclude final exams and leaves only the change of the course work and other specific to a particular education requirements.
