This measure, approved by the Legislative Assembly in June, expands the provisions of the clean air Act in new York and is one of the main goals of the supporters of the fight against Smoking.

«These products are marketed as a healthier alternative to cigarettes, but in reality, they also carry risks to the health of smokers and their environment,» said Cuomo. «We intend to create a healthier new York for all.»

Support step Cuomo many activists.

«It’s the right decision, because the aerosols from electronic cigarettes are not harmless,» said Julia HART from the American society for the fight against cancer. HART and other activists hope that new restrictions will help reduce the popularity of electronic cigarettes among teenagers.

The January study conducted by the Department of health of the state, showed that the percentage of secondary school students using electronic cigarettes has increased to 20.6% (2016) from 10.5% (in 2014).
«Very scary that 20% of students are using electronic cigarettes,» added Julia HART.

We will remind, in July the Governor signed a law prohibiting Smoking electronic cigarettes in all public and private schools.
American Association of vaping protested against these measures, arguing that the health risks of electronic cigarettes are exaggerated.
