A year ago the teacher of a private new York city kindergarten took the life of her 4-year-old son because he accidentally broke the egg. 26-year-old Zara Coombes severely beat the boy with the handle of a brush, and when he lost consciousness, put it in a container with water in the bathroom and left there for 20 minutes.
At the time Coombes was in his Brooklyn apartment with the late Samaira and his three younger brothers and sisters — the woman waited for the return home, the roommate went to get marijuana.
Only when her boyfriend, Jamari Richardson came Coombes called 911 and her half-dead son was taken to a medical facility. To save the child failed the next day he died in the hospital.
According to the initial decision of the authorities, a cold-blooded killer would have had to spend in prison the rest of his days, but now she has a chance to avoid it.
Prosecutors offered the defendant a plea of guilt, having accepted which, it will receive a reduction of up to 25 years. On Friday told the New York Daily News the lawyer Coombes, without specifying the reasons for such decision.
The final fate of the accused will be decided at the hearing on 1 February.
Note that according to the NGO Justice For Children Without Voices, earlier Zara Coombes was named Faith McLean. She changed her name after d 2013 her ex-husband and the father of the deceased Samaira Bashid McLean beheaded his own mother.
