Former member of the group Black Liberation Army, who served 47 years in prison for the murder of three police officers, was pardoned and 27 April was released. His name is Herman bell, and the fact that the man was on the outside, is extremely negatively perceived by the relatives of crime victims and local activists.

At the meeting of the pardon Commission, which determined the future of Bella, an elderly inmate argued that he became a totally different person.

In 1971, this pleasant old gentleman was one of the group the Black Liberation Army, which was the military wing known at the time of the political organization «Black Panther«. The participants advocated armed resistance to the «white race.» Members of the BLA was committed a large number of attacks, assaults, and murders. They are involved in the death of 10 policemen.

May 21, 1971, bell, together with other members of the gang, lured the two officers to one of the houses of Harlem. Policemen Joseph Piagentini and Waverly Jones were disarmed, after which they were actually executed. It is known that Piagentini begged the criminals to spare his life, telling about two young children and wife, but the request had no effect on the bandits. On the body of officer found 22 gunshot wounds. Waverly Jones was killed immediately, despite the fact that he was black.

A few months later, bell had a hand in another murder of a policeman. It happened during the bandit RAID BLA in San Francisco. He was subsequently arrested and tried.

The decision ahead of the release of Herman bell caused a wave of discontent in society. Relatives of the dead policemen and civil organizations filed a lawsuit in order to annul the Commission’s decision, but the claim was rejected. People can’t believe that the judicial system released the killer of three police officers.

«Herman bell and his accomplices deliberately lured two of anything unsuspecting police officers into a trap, to murder. It is an evil that does not deserve forgiveness» — said in a statement, Patrick Lynch, the head of the police Union Patrolmen»s Benevolent Association.

«He’ll make a mistake, and we will be there when it happens» — said the widow of Piagentini when I found out about the court decision.
