Plastic tubes can be in new York city under the ban

On Wednesday the city Council had passed a bill banning the use and sale of plastic tubes in new York’s public places, including street food vendors.

City Council member Rafael Espinal, who developed the law, said that in the first two years after the start of the bill penalties for violators will not be applied – only warnings. For those categories of people who need to use a plastic tube for medical reasons would be exempt.

Although mayor bill de Blasio is a known opponent of plastic products — not yet supported the rejection of the tubes officially, he spoke in support of the bill. We have previously reported about the plans of the mayor prohibiting the use of plastic bags in the Big Apple.

If the document is signed, new York will be one of the first major cities in the U.S. to pass such a ban. Similar laws were adopted only in Seattle, Malibu and Miami beach. In California, the authorities also try to limit the use of plastic tubes.

What is the danger of plastic waste?

The tube of plastic is a common form of waste, which suffers environment: every year due to plastic debris kills thousands of marine life, excluding birds. Plastic does not decompose for decades and just remains on the surface of the earth and the sea.

In Association for the protection of wild life (Wildlife Conservation Society — WCS) believe that by 2050 the oceans of plastic waste will be more than the fish. Thanks to the efforts of this nonprofit organization in her ward parks, including the Bronx Zoo, no longer in use no plastic straws or lids for cold drinks or disposable bags.
