Miami has postponed a vote on construction of houses with solar panels

The Commission in South Miami voted unanimously to postpone consideration of the project for the construction of new homes with solar panels. This will be the first such law in Florida, and members of the Commission want to make sure that the city complies with building codes, before taking it.

Mayor Philip Stoddard said, «We want to do it.» The mayor rides in an electric car, his home has solar panels and his monthly bill for electricity Florida Power & Light is about 9.08 USD.

The resolution, which was unanimously adopted on first reading in early June, requires that solar panels on 175 square feet were installed every 1,000 sq ft on the roofs of buildings. Similar decrees already in force, but in California.

The study showed that due to solar energy the cost of the house will increase by 1 percent, but the owners will regain the money spent for 10 years, after reducing utility bills.
