The court rejected the claims of the victims of Hamas, who accused Facebook of aiding terrorism

In the summer of 2016 a group of Israelis and residents of the U.S. who lost relatives or property during the Palestinian terrorist attacks in Israel in the period from 2014 to 2016, has sued Facebook, accusing the social network supporting terrorism, namely the grouping «Hamas». The price of two claims totaled $ 1 billion.

The plaintiffs argued that Facebook provided the Hamas militants the possibility of open communication in the social network. So they were able to plan and implement terrorist attacks, to share information about the actions of the Israeli army, to post messages about the demonstrations, etc.

The lawsuits were filed on behalf of nearly 20,000 Israelis and Americans in the United States District court for the southern district of new York.

May 18, U.S. district judge Nicholas Garaufis rejected the claims, recognizing the charges against the social network to be unfounded. The court also said that Facebook was immune from claims in the second suit.
