The leadership of one of the giants of the transportation sector – UPS – tomorrow will feel the effects of a strike. According to preliminary data, 11 thousand drivers are going to participate in protest actions aimed at improving labor contracts.
As representatives of the UPS, a week before the strike, the company began its efforts by the maximal unloading of delivery schedule. This was done in order to neutralize the effects of the protests for the company’s clients. On Friday, all the necessary preparations were completed, and UPS was ready to meet the second-largest strike of its employees.

The initiators of this action were made by trade Union Teamster. It members over the past week considered a proposal by the UPS labor contracts. Such discussions take place every 5 years, but for the first time since 1997, the parties come to a mutually beneficial agreement. In the company’s management warned in advance: the last sentence included the maximum concessions that is willing to go the employer.
However, the Teamster wish to see more significant changes. The list of the major requirements listed higher wages, the elimination of some of the conditions for retirement and the introduction of additional restrictions on subcontracting.
The leadership UPS has agreed to make some concessions and now the Union intends to achieve with the strike. The last time a similar situation was observed in 1997, when the protest took 185 thousand UPS employees. They went on strike for 16 days.
