The Governor of new York signed on Tuesday a law on reproductive health, informed the Senate and the Assembly establishing the right of all women to abortion without any restrictions on the time period to 24 weeks of pregnancy. For periods of more than 24 weeks, abortion rights remains only if there is medical evidence about the dangers of pregnancy to women’s health or viability of the fetus.

«This is a great victory for women and families in new York, and she sends a powerful signal across the country, confirming the essential truth: every woman deserves the fundamental right to choose when and how to raise my family,» — says the decision of the authorities of new York, Vice-President of «America’s Choice» Adrienne Kimmell.
The democratic majority leader and the first female head of NY Senate Andrea Stewart-cousins noted that the law strengthens the position of the defenders of abortion at the Federal level: «In that moment, when they (opponents of abortion) at the national level can change the rights of women today in new York we say ‘no’.»
Politicians say that the law was passed and signed by the remarkable date — the 46th anniversary of the decision in ROE V. Wade. This is a hint to the opponents of abortion, the waiting time soon judicial policy decisions in their favor.
Governor Andrew Cuomo in a release continues: «Today we are making a huge step forward in a bitter battle to secure the right of women to make their own decisions about personal health, including accessibility of abortion. After the signing of this bill, we make clear that whatever happens in Washington, women in new York will always have a fundamental right to control their body.»
