The family of a man who fell into a coma after the attack, police LAPD, has filed a lawsuit against the city demanding $195 million compensation. The lawsuit States that the attack was involved the duty officer Ricardo Dominguez and «other unknown employees of the police Department of Los Angeles», which were not at that moment in the service. Now Preston is in a coma with severe head injuries.

The lawsuit also said that Dominguez and other unknown officers, among whom are African-American, was attacked at Preston, on the basis of racist motives.

According to the lawyer, Dominguez is a dangerous and cruel COP who has long been involved in unjustified, illegal and excessive violence, especially when he is not on the service and drink alcohol. In the past he was punished and removed from service due to domestic violence and alcohol abuse.

The police later provided «false and misleading» information about the incident. At the moment in the attack on Preston yet no one was charged.
