Animal testing in Michigan: dogs fed pesticides and plan to kill

More than three dozen dogs of the breed Beagle during the year were subjected to forced feeding fungicides (pesticides) in a Michigan laboratory for testing a new chemical product.

This is stated in the published investigation of the SPCA of the United States (HSUS).

According to the HSUS, all dogs will be killed in July, during the autopsy of their bodies will check for damage to the fungicide.

The humane society of the United States stated that it conducted a secret investigation for nearly 100 days, checking both short-term and long-term studies.

According to HSUS, more than 60 thousand dogs in the US annually is used for the testing of toxic products of approximately 350 private and public institutions. Most dogs are delivered from large kennels that are licensed by the Ministry of agriculture of the United States.

The pesticide that was being tested on Michigan beagles were developed Corteva Agriscience, agricultural Department DowDuPont, the world’s largest chemicals company by sales.

«We can’t wait: every day these dogs in cages are getting closer to death,» said kitty Block, President and CEO of the HSUS.

In Corteva Agriscience said that the company «cares about the welfare of animals and conducting such tests only when required by regulatory agencies», e.g. departments of the countries where will sell chemical products.

As of Thursday, March 14th, under a petition demanding the immediate release of 36 beagles, were more than 133 thousand signatures.

«Most dogs die in laboratories. But these 36 there is hope, and we must act quickly!» — reads the petition.
