As of today, writes Reuters, the draft resolution will use a broader definition of public goods, to include some immigrants who have used a number of public benefits including cash assistance, food stamps, housing assistance or Medicaid.

The decision may affect holders of «green cards», which by law have the right to use public goods shortly after their arrival in the United States, as refugees.

Consider public benefits include supplemental income security (SSI) for the disabled and the elderly, the supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP), housing vouchers, various benefits Medicaid; and assistance measures to needy families (TANF).

In addition to developing new standards for the deportation of lawful residents, the Ministry of justice is also considering a requirement that foreigners wishing to obtain permanent resident status, filed an immigration judge Declaration confirming their independence. The form asks for a detailed list of assets, income and debts, along with other information.
