The school has introduced a complete ban on skirts because they are getting shorter and the male teachers «uncomfortable»

Pupils and parents were outraged after a private Catholic school decided to impose a complete ban on skirts because some girls try to wear their short, why male teachers «uncomfortable».

At Cathedral Catholic High School San Diego stated that this is a controversial decision was made after the teacher left many times after school girls who ignored the school dress code, changing the length of skirts.

Director Kevin Culkin sent parents a letter in which it was said: «the Main problem with the dress code was the length of the skirts. The school has made many attempts to deal with this problem. We have attracted parents, left the girls after school, doing school announcements, and even talked with the students personally.»

Culkin explained that the male teachers uncomfortable doing girls comments about the length of their skirts, and teachers-women, this situation is unpleasant.

Up to this point the girls were allowed to wear skirts that were not too formfitting. In addition, they had to be no shorter than 3 inches from the top of the kneecap in a standing position. Now girls can wear pants, capris or Bermuda shorts. Boys can wear pants or shorts.

This decision led to outrage among students and their parents. They came out to protest in front of the school on Wednesday, arguing that it is unfair to punish all the girls when you break the rules just a few.

Michelle Adams, whose 2 daughters attend the school, said: «Why should we punish the whole school when to ignore the rules only a few girls. Collective punishment does not seem to be the right answer.» She added that girls are forced to wear the same uniform worn by the boys, saying: «tell Them that they can not dress in accordance with her sex. They need to look and dress like boys. I don’t understand why women constantly say they need to be like men. We’re not men, we are different. How many girls have you seen in Bermuda shorts. They are just uncomfortable.»

Girls are here to learn, as well as boys. The length of the skirts is distracting only when girls are seen as sexual objects. Great lesson you teach them».

A spokeswoman for the school said the new dress code equalizes both genders. She said, «Now that boys and girls are the same, you can focus on what’s really important and not on things that distract from learning.»
