A city in Texas banned abortion on its territory and promised to become «a refuge for the unborn»

In Wascome (TX) is completely banned abortion in the city. On Tuesday, may 11, the local Council, consisting of five men made this decision unanimously — joining Roswell (new Mexico), which approved a similar law in March. Both cities have also declared themselves «cities of sanctuary for unborn children.»

Under the new rules, abortion will only be allowed in cases of rape, incest, and direct threat to the health of the mother.

According to the submitted draft law activist, Mark Lee Dixon of East Texas Right to Life, one of the reasons for the ban were concerns that the recently toughened its laws in Louisiana will close all clinics for abortions in the state. This could, in turn, lead to the emergence of these clinics in Mascoma, which is located on the border with Louisiana, about 20 miles from Shreveport, — said Dixon.

«We decided to take matters into their own hands, — he said — to defend our cities and unborn children.»

Dixon told Fox News that has long been frustrated by the lack of in Texas rules that would «protect the unborn». According to his bill, «ROE V. Wade» and other laws allowing abortions are «unconstitutional usurpation of the judiciary, which is contrary to the Tenth amendment» and «has in Wascome power.»

Despite the approval of the Council, mayor Jess Moore has repeatedly expressed concerns about the law, arguing that the decision runs the risk to turn to cities with a population of 2,200 people is extremely wasteful trouble.

«If [the bill] is approved, — he stressed — then we will likely submit a claim. The case could reach the Supreme court.»

«We have no capacity to spend on trial and millions of dollars. — I agree with Alderman Moore Jimmy Dale Moore — We are simply unable to pay such expenses on lawyers».
