The FBI found buckets of limbs, the body made of different parts as well as refrigerator with male genitalia during a RAID in the Arizona center donation agencies in Phoenix.

The RAID in the biological center in Phoenix was constructed after a nationwide investigation. In 2013, Federal authorities began to investigate the activities of «black market of bodies» and firms that sell donated body for research purposes middlemen. Body parts were piled on each other around the center, without explicit identification. It was the same in steel freezer: frozen body parts that belonged to is not clear to whom. One of the bodies had been stitched together like Frankenstein’s monster: to the male torso sewed to a woman’s head.

According to Reuters, the agents found 1755 parts of human bodies, filled 142 bag weighing 10 tons.

Another former FBI agent Matthew Parker, who worked on the case, wrote that «I couldn’t sleep at night» after seeing it. There was a feeling that they «were digging in the dump» and not the researched object.

In the court documents is the testimony of two forensic experts. According to them, several parts of the bodies were plastilinovye for extended use in training or educational purposes. This use of body parts requires a separate agreement with the family.

Arizona — the zone of free regulation of business involved in the supply of body parts. Now in the state are at least 4 centres and non-profit organization for the freezing of bodies — however, the most notorious biological center will be closed. Typically, centers receive dead bodies of relatives in exchange for a certain amount and promise to cremate unclaimed remains.

Relatives of the dead feel cheated, claim that they were misled by «false promises», while the remains of their relatives were sold to middlemen for profit, and the bodies were stored and disposed of without proper respect.

Many relatives were convinced that the sacrifice of the body favorite charity, scientific research, organ transplantation, study of illnesses, in order to save someone’s life. Not all understand the difference between donation of organs and body donation. Few could have imagined that their departed loved ones will divide and sell in parts.

The case will be heard by the Supreme court of Maricopa on October 21.

In 2013, the BRC was the price list, which is submitted to the court:

  • Whole body without shoulders or head: 2,900 USD.
  • Torso with head: $ 2,400.
  • Whole spine: 950 dollars.
  • Foot: $ 1,100.
  • Foot: $ 450.
  • Knee: $ 375.
  • Taz: $ 400.

In 2017 and in Arizona and Colorado adopted a bill requiring such centers to obtain a state license, but the law has not yet been put into circulation. Centers who are currently employed in the state, is accredited by the American Association of Tissue Banks. At BRC the Phoenix did not have such a license. Stephen Mountains in tears, admitted his guilt in 2015. In his letter to the Supreme court before sentencing he said he feels depressed, but asked to consider that doing business devoid of formal rules on which to rely.

Steven Gore had received secondary school education, he never had any certificate or license that gave him the right to engage in this business.
