79-year-old woman was sentenced to prison because she was feeding stray cats

79-year-old Nancy Segula lives on Havana road, Garfield heights (Ohio). A couple of years ago on the back porch of her home began to come stray cats.

«It started in 2017. I had a neighbor who kept a few cats, but then the man moved, and the animals left, the woman told channel FOX 8. I will always feed them and care for them, because I care about animals and I love cats. But my neighbors didn’t like it, and they called in law enforcement agencies».

A pensioner has received the first penalty in 2017. And then three more.

And last week she issued a decree that the woman appeared before the court. Judge Jeffrey Short sentenced Nancy Segula to 10 days in jail County Cuyahoga.

«I couldn’t believe what my mother said. 10 days in the County jail! Everyone understands that going on in these prisons, and they will send my 79-year-old mother there?» said Dave Pawlowski, son of Nancy.

In Garfield heights really is prohibited to feed the homeless dogs and cats according to regulation 505.23. However, the woman did not believe that the punishment fits the crime.

«That’s too harsh for feeding the cats, at a time when so many people are doing really terrible things,» said Nancy Segula.

Power Garfield heights has not commented on the incident to journalists. And Nancy Segula must be in the County jail, August 11 at 9 am.
