One of the employees of the Marriott hotel in California has amassed a large Arsenal of weapons and tactical gear, intending to organize a mass shooting at his workplace.
37-year-old Rodolfo Montoya had planned to kill his colleagues using the powerful firearms — including two assault rifles and a shotgun — which was discovered by officers during a search in his house.
«He had a plan for the execution of all whom he saw in the hotel,» said the chief of police of long beach Robert Moon.
The exasperated cook at the Marriott in southern California was arrested on Tuesday, August 20, at his home in Huntington beach after he allegedly told another employee that it plans to open fire on colleagues and guests at the hotel.
Thursday, August 22, Montoya was charged with criminal threat and possession of an assault weapon, according to the district attorney’s office County of Los Angeles. He is under bail of $500 thousand in the city jail of long beach.
According to Moon, during the execution of the threats Montoya complained to a colleague in the HR Department.

Imran Ahmed, General Manager of the Long Beach Marriott, thanked police at a press conference.
«We go through training and prevent such things,’ said Ahmed. I want to thank my staff member who has admitted and informed us and our team leaders who have taken the necessary action.»
According to Moon, detectives are still investigating, when Montoya had planned the attack, how long he was planning this, and when and where he acquired all the firearms and ammunition. He added that Montoya doesn’t have a criminal history.
