Mechanic accused of sabotage after he damaged the equipment of a commercial plane just before its takeoff from Miami international airport, on Board of which there were more than 100 people.
According to court documents, on July 17 an American Airlines flight from Miami to Nassau (Bahamas) took off when the airline staff noticed the error associated with the «air data module» (ADM), which tracks the speed, direction of movement of the nose and other important information about the flight.
Mechanics who examined the aircraft, «found a poorly connected to a test tube which connects directly to the ADM». They noticed that someone is deliberately «cut her some dark material such as Styrofoam».
American Airlines announced that the flight had to be cancelled and all passengers transferred to another plane. No one was hurt in this incident.

Thanks to surveillance cameras was able to find out who is responsible for the problem. Saboteur was a mechanic Abdul-Majid Marouf Ahmed Alani. Officers arrested Alani and he confessed to the crime, but denied that he intended to cause harm to anyone on Board.
It needs to appear before the court on Friday, September 6, in the evening in Miami. In the case of conviction Alani faces up to 20 years behind bars.
Alani told the officers that the stalled contract negotiations between American Airlines and the mechanics Union «has an impact on its financial position,» so he sabotaged the plane «waiting for overtime».
