Student withdrew from school in handcuffs after she folded fingers like a gun and sent to classmates

A 12 year old girl from Kansas was taken out of school in handcuffs and charged with a serious criminal offence for what she put their fingers in the shape of a gun, later told police.

Girl from overland Park, whose name was not called, made the gesture during the discussion of one topic in class last month. During the conversation, another student asked her what other classmates she would be killed, suggesting her to call 5 people, a source told the Kansas City Star.

Then the girl put their fingers in a pistol – something that kids do during their games and sent 4 of his classmates and then himself.

After this incident, the girl and her classmates initially sent to the school principal Westridge Middle School. But the school security guard was recommended to arrest her and called the police, reports the Kansas City Star.

Arrived on-call police officers brought the girl from the school in handcuffs, arrested her and charged with threats to classmates. Let her go, when came to her mother, but she must appear at the courthouse next Tuesday.

«I want to be clear: the arrest of this student had absolutely nothing to do with the rules of the school district,» — said the representative of the school district Shawnee Mission School District Dave Smith. «It was a decision of the police Department, and our rules do not affect the decision of the police Department.»

In the case file notes that on 18 September girl «unlawfully and maliciously made a threat to commit violence with the intent to scare or intent to cause the evacuation, closure or interruption of ongoing activities of the school.»

A student, who faces a year in juvie, will now live in California. Her grandfather John Cavanaugh insists that the child has no access to real weapons and she «just blew the language.» «I think this is a question that could be solved in the office of the Director of the school and the incident was out of control,» he told the newspaper. «I’m really worried for the future of his granddaughter.»

Police in overland Park said that «each case is thoroughly investigated prior to the arrest and charges». «Guarantee the safety of all in the school or district is the main priority and requires constant vigilance» they said in a statement.
