Tommy Jenkins was arrested Thursday after an adult male to walk 565 miles to meet 14-year-old girl who actually turned out to be a Deputy undercover.
Male 32 years passed as many as 565 kilometers from Indiana to Wisconsin with the intent to enter into an intimate relationship with a 14-year-old girl later told the police. Tommy Jenkins was arrested and charged with multiple charges after his arrest in Winnebago County in Wisconsin on Thursday.
Investigators said that he began his journey on foot from Whitestown in Indiana after demanded «images of a sexually explicit nature» from «Kylie», which eventually turned out to be a Deputy undercover.
In the office of the Federal Prosecutor of the Eastern judicial district of Wisconsin said Friday that Jenkins went after his numerous requests to «Kylie» joined him in Indiana was rejected.
Jenkins continued, «to persuade «Kylie» to the conversations of an explicitly sexual nature.» In addition, he kept her informed of your progress in the path while walking to her, authorities said.
Sheriff’s deputies and an FBI agent «warmly» welcomed Jenkins in the County of Winnebago, taking him into custody.
«Our nation is faced with an epidemic of sexual crimes whose victims are children, and Internet predators greatly facilitates the ability to communicate with children across the country,» said Matthew Krueger, the U.S. attorney in the Eastern district of Wisconsin. «The U.S. Department of justice is cooperating with Federal and local law enforcement agencies to punish sexual abuse of children.»
Federal charges against Jenkins include use of the computer in an attempt to convince, persuade or entice a minor to engage her in illegal sexual activity. He faces a minimum of 10 years in prison and possibly life imprisonment.
