A homeowner who shot a man who broke into his home will not be prosecuted

Police in Mississippi said that the homeowner who shot a man who entered it, will not be charged.

31-year-old Walter Williams was identified as the suspect, was shot dead on Tuesday, January 7, in Pascagoula (Mississippi). This information was confirmed by the channel WLOX Harrison County coroner Brian Switzer.

According to police, Williams, a local resident, broke into the house on Nathan Hale Drive Tuesday morning. The landlord (as it turned out, a longtime employee of the office of coroner of Jackson County) shot and killed the attacker.

The name of the landlord, the police has not released, because it has not been and will not be, according to them, accused of committing a criminal offence.

Walter Williams was well known to the authorities, because in the past he had problems with the law. According to law enforcement, he was suspected of several thefts, including just a few days before received a mortal wound.

As a homeowner who fired the fatal shots, is an employee of the coroner’s office, coroner County Jackson Bruce Lind, who took office on 1 January, said that the investigation was entrusted to the neighboring district (Harrison) to avoid any possible conflict of interest.

The body of Walter Williams was sent to the crime lab in Jackson County for autopsy. According to preliminary information, after the completion of the autopsy, the case will be closed.
